Novi Paver Maintenance & Repair Project Background
PMS is wrapping up another brick paver restoration project in Novi, Michigan for a good friend of PMS and past goaltender of the Detroit Red Wings. We started working for Mr. L. in 2001 when he had hired us to remove his brick pavers around his pool and install new tumbled Brussels pavers and block from Unilock.
Novi Paver Maintenance & Repair Process
We removed his old clay coping around the pool and installed the Brussels pavers as the coping unit. We completed the back yard and had 20 plus pallets of unilock OGC palletized in the street to be removed. As we wrapped up Mr. L asked if we could install the OGC brick to replace his broken down asphalt driveway. PMS provided a quote and immediately started removing the old driveway and sub base. We dug down 20” of sub base and installed our geo-textile fabric and installed 21 AA in lifts and installed the older OGC pavers in a random pattern.
We’re now here for the second time to pressure clean, sand, and seal all the pavers on site. We had our first crew go out and cover the fireplace, windows, and pool. Then, we began our pressure cleaning and stain removal process. Due to the sheer size of the project we had 2 of our crews return to the project 2 days later to sweep all the paver joints with our dry kiln and screened sand.
Next, we staged the project with 18-5 gallon buckets of our satin semi gloss paver sealer, our most popular product. We hand roll the sealer to flood-coat the pavers and sand joint. This is for longevity and penetration so the surface doesn’t become slippery. We cut around the coping units, even though it is pavers, because it’s so close to the water and we want the edge to be dry.
