Pavermaintenance.com installed a new pool deck for our client around an existing gunite inground pool with Oaks Rialto pavers that was restored last year. As per manufacture specification, we advised our clients to wait through one winter before applying paver sealer. This is because we have to wait for the concrete product to bleed out the efflorescence which is a typical natural salt. It gives the concrete pavers a chance, through the winter cycles, to bleed out.

Although the paver project was installed eight months ago, Pavermaintenance.com still pressure cleaned the surface because once it’s sealed, it will lock everything in. So, it’s always best to have the surface as clean as possible. Pavermaintenance.com, of course, does it best by pushing the excess dirt and debris away from the pool. But, we had previously stated to Mr. and Mrs. B that the pool would need some additional cleanup after the pressure cleaning process.
Pavermaintenance.com returned the next day to refill all the paving joints with our specially formulated fine kiln sand, in paper bags, so it doesn’t trap the moisture. It’s screened three times to ensure the cleanest and most fine sand in the state of Michigan and does not leave a film on top of the paving stones. Because the sand is so fine, when rolled, it allows the sealer, to create maximum penetration so we can go deep into the joints, killing anything underneath, whether insect infestations, along with locking the sand in place.
We had two crews there–six guys around the pool deck using paint brushes and rollers so that we kept the surface from drying to quickly, leaving overlaps and streaking, especially with such a large paver maintenance project on this very hot day. We used our 100% pure brick paver sealer type-p to give it a satin semi-gloss look and protect from the elements.
